A CLINICAL STUDY OF NETILMICIN(NETICIN®) USED PROPHYLACTICALLY AND THERAPEUTICALLY IN VARIOUS DISEASE OF GENERAL SURGERY

Abstract
|
|
|
This clinical study was performed to evaluate the efficacy and toxicity of Netilmicin (Neticin`) used prophylactically and therapeutically in various disease of General Surgery, when used alone or in combination with other antibiotics and the following results were obtained.
1. 2mg/kg of Netilmicin in a day, was administered intramuscularly for average 4.7 days with a range of 1 to 17 days.
Of 38 cases used prophylactically, 36 cases re-covered from surgery without any postoperative surgical infection, so the efficacy of the Netilmicin was 94.7% in prophylactic use.
Of 21 cases used therapeutically, 17 cases revealed excellent.
2. 22 cases were proven positive cultures in bacteriological studies, among these cases, sensitivity of Netilmicin was 90.996(20/22 cases).
3. Aydiotoxicity and nephrotoxicity and adverse effect of Netilmicin were not developed in this study.
This favourable results clearly indicate that Netilmicin is a highly effective antibiotics with a broad spectrum of activity.
